Eric Ten Hag faces criticism due to Marcus Rashford’s struggles

Manchester United coach Eric Ten Hag is under scrutiny due to the recent difficulties faced by star player Marcus Rashford, with former Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott suggesting that Ten Hag is not effectively utilizing Rashford.

According to GOAL network, Lescott expressed his views, emphasizing that Rashford is playing out of position and advised the Dutch coach on alternative methods to deploy the English forward. Despite Rashford’s exceptional performance in the previous season, where he scored 30 goals and led the team to Carabao Cup victory, this season has seen a decline in his form, with only six goals to his name, and a diminishing consistency reflecting the team’s overall struggles in creating chances and maintaining discipline.

Lescott defended Rashford, acknowledging the importance of continuous trust and the manager’s need to understand his strengths and utilize them effectively. Lescott suggested that Ten Hag should consider deploying Rashford in a different position, such as the right-wing or as a striker, to capitalize on his strengths and exploit the opponent’s weaknesses.

In the interview, Lescott believed that Rashford is currently the only Manchester United player who could break into Manchester City’s lineup, highlighting the impact of Eric Ten Hag’s system on Rashford’s performance and suggesting that under a different system, Rashford could be more effective. As for his future at Old Trafford, it seems unlikely that he will depart in the near future.
